If you have checked out loads of sites, you've probably come across some error message from time to time. An error can take place when the web server can't process a request (Error 400), if you have to log in so that you can see some content and you haven't done so (Error 401), if you are not able to access a webpage (Error 403) or if a link leads to a file that isn't on the server (Error 404). Encountering this type of messages could sometimes be frustrating as the pages have nothing in common with the actual Internet site. That’s why some hosting providers permit you to apply your own error pages that will match the layout of your own website and which may have any content that you would like - info why the error has occurred, a suggestion what you can do or even some funny remark. This type of function can help you keep the visitor on the website no matter the error and the reason for it.
Custom Error Pages in Cloud Website Hosting
The custom error pages feature is provided with each and every cloud website hosting plan which we offer and you will be able to replace the generic pages with your own with no more than a few mouse clicks from your Hepsia website hosting Control Panel. You will have to develop the actual files and to upload them to your account, and then to set them for a specific domain or subdomain using the Hosted Domains section of the Hepsia CP. You can easily do this for every Internet site hosted in the account individually, so that each set of customized pages will have the same style and design as the site it's part of. If required, you could always go back to a default page from our system or to the default Apache server page. Another way to set customized error pages is to create an .htaccess file in the domain/subdomain root folder and to include a few lines in it. If you haven't done this before, you may simply copy the necessary code from our Help article about the subject.
Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers
All of the semi-dedicated servers that we provide support custom made error pages and it will not take more than a few mouse clicks inside your Hepsia hosting Control Panel to use this feature. The option can be found in the Hosted Domains section of your CP where you will need to type in the links to the custom-made files via simple drop-down menus and an easy to use interface. Needless to say, you must upload them inside your account before that. In case you don't need to use this feature at some point, you will be able to deactivate it just as easily and pick an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be shown if your visitors encounter an error. If you prefer, you could also use an .htaccess file to allow the custom made error pages. The file needs to have a particular line of code plus a link for each error type and you may find an example of the whole content for all four error types in our Help section.
